2025 High School Belize Mission Trip

Belize | July 12th-18th | 9th-12th Grade | $2200

Deadline: February 2nd

This summer, HS students at St. Luke's will have the opportunity to join us for an international mission trip to Belize! We are excited to serve through Praying Pelicans Missions (PPM), a well respected missions organization that has partnered with and developed relationships in this community for many years. Students will get to serve in a variety of ways including physical projects and relational ministry. The trip will be built with our group in mind. The evenings will involve services, opportunities to share what we've been learning, and fun adventures!

Belize is the only country in Central America where English is the official language spoken. It is a coastal country with the second longest barrier reef in the world. It has dense jungles, low mountains, and a rich variety of wildlife. Belize has a rich history, both ancient Mayan history and recently in their independence from Britain. Through the local church there, we will have the opportunity to serve those in need in various ways--physical projects, relational ministry, and everything in between. It will be a great cultural learning experience.

NOTE: the second page of this registration includes an application. Your spot on the trip is not guaranteed. St. Luke's Youth staff will read and review your application questions and set up a time with you to talk about the trip. This is because traveling internationally involves a greater level of risk and greater need for cultural sensitivity.

EVERYONE will need to have a 2024-2025 Medical Release Form on file prior to the Mission Trip. New Medical Release Form coming soon.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Q: Who is this trip for?

A: This trip is only for students currently in grades 9-12 and some adult volunteers.

Q: What forms need filled out?

A: A new Medical Release Form needs to be completed (coming soon). We may have additional forms required by our missions organization.

Q: Is a passport required to go on this trip?

A: Yes

Q: What COVID restrictions are in place?

A: At this time, Belize has no restrictions in place. We (St. Luke's), will encourage strong safety precautions leading into the trip so that no one has to miss. If you test positive for COVID and are unable to go on the trip, you will be responsible for the cost of the trip with the missions organization (around $800). You will however receive the airfare cost in the form of a voucher. Be safe, mask up, and avoid large crowds at least a week in advance!

Q: How much does the trip cost and what is the fine print?

A: The trip cost $2200. Our fee for Praying Pelicans is $900 per person. The additional $1200 should cover the cost of airfare, t-shirts, and additional supplies. Should we be able to secure flights for much cheaper than estimated, it is possible we could refund a portion of the cost. This is unlikely. Some money will also be needed for meals while traveling and souvenirs while in country.

Q: When is my deposit due?

A: By February 2nd, a non-refundable deposit of $500 is due. This will hold your spot on the trip. If you have not paid, your spot will not be booked and you could miss out on getting to go. If you decide to drop out of the trip after February 2nd, you will forfeit your deposit.

Q: I am an adult leader who wants to go, what do I do?

Talk to Travis! He will help make sure there is a good spot on the trip for you and give you specific registration instructions.

Q: What fundraising opportunities are there?

A: In Sep/Oct. there are lots of opportunities to earn funds at the pumpkin fundraiser, which you can sign up to work shifts for by clicking here. In Jan or Feb, we will have a Stock Sales Fundraiser that will give students an easy option to earn funds for mission trips. Lastly, we can help student learn and put into practice writing support letters. This is a great way to have family help fund your trip. Other scholarships and fundraising opportunities may arise on a case by case basis. Just ask!

If you have any questions, please contact Travis Bannon.
