Hub for Hope

Love + Action = Hope

In our world, many equations don’t add up. As hard as families may work, the resources may not add up to enough to provide for their families. That’s where Hub for Hope comes in.

Hub for Hope wants to balance the equation. Hub for Hope provides support for Washington Township families in need and connects with them to nourish hope and well-being for family life.

By meeting with Hope Ambassadors, families can connect with support services including:

  · Diaper Pantry
  · Food Pantry
  · Housing and utility assistance - Call (317) 846-3404 x305
  · Life skills classes and parent support groups
  · Elementary and middle school student mentoring

By receiving support and community connections, families experience
love in action and hope for their future.

Dear Representative/Senator ______________:

My name is (insert name) and I reside at (insert address).

I am writing to you to ask that you help all parents have access to diapers. Diapers need to be identified as a basic human need and should be subsidized for low-income families. I ask that you remove the tax on diapers and allow them to be purchased through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

About 1 in 3 families in the United States struggle to provide diapers, typically at a 9-diaper deficit. This deficit not only causes medical concerns for the child, but also creates stressors for the family. This stressor is not only financial in the ability to purchase diapers, but also in time off work or loss of a job. Most daycare settings require diapers to accompany the child or they cannot attend. So, if the parent cannot purchase the diapers, then they cannot attend work because their child cannot attend childcare. As you can see, the diaper deficit not only affects 1 in 3 families but also affects the economy, medical, and mental health services in this country. Again, diapers need to be identified as a basic human need. I appreciate your time and attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
