Back To School Extravaganza

Back to School Extravaganza 2023 will make an impact locally and globally!

Washington Township is a dynamic community with broad diversity in cultures, religions, ethnic groups, races, and socioeconomic levels. Washington Township Schools are committed to advancing equitable achievement where each student thrives in systems that support their needs. Educators and leaders critically examine conditions for learning and actively remove the barriers that prohibit success. St. Luke’s is proud to partner in this effort by providing access to school supplies for ALL students in the school district in accordance with our own commitment to justice, anti-racism, and inclusivity.

Students

Each year we partner with Washington Township schools as they kick off a new academic year. We work closely with their teachers and administrators to find the BEST way we can support the school district.

Although the goal has not changed, the methods have looked different over the past few years. This year’s strategy looks like this:

  • Sorting and packing school supplies for EVERY school in the district, so that they can offer supplies at no charge to EVERY student who needs them. (that was more than 7000 students in 2022!)
  • Volunteer teams will sort supplies during the week of July 10-16.
    • Volunteers will do the sorting at the MSDWT warehouse (not at the church)
    • Supplies will be sorted onto pallets for each school and school personnel (not volunteers) will deliver supplies.
    • Volunteer slots will open soon!

Classrooms

The adopt-a-classroom program provides $1000 grants to teachers to purchase books, math games, sensory toys, class celebrations, science projects, and other learning tools for their classrooms.

Classrooms can be sponsored by individuals, families, and small groups, who will have the opportunity to connect with teachers and students at different points during the school year.

Our 2023 goal is to provide 15 classroom grants!
