School Year Sunday School
(September-May)

Offered at the 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. services held at St. Luke's. Classes begin the fall after a child has reached the age of 3.  Each September a new volunteer staff is on board, trained, and all classes are promoted to their age or grade for the school year. Classrooms are staffed with teams to serve for the 9 month school year. Some serve every Sunday while others teach once a month.

Every effort is made to find a volunteer schedule that will work for an individual willing to be involved in making "faith memories" with the children. Curriculum and supplies are provided to all classes. In addition to Sunday School during the school year, a weekly Children's Church experience is available for first through fifth graders. This worship helps to teach hymns, The Lord's Prayer, and other worship elements. Early Childhood Music occurs from October-May for our 3-5 year old classes with music and interactive worship.

All Children are encouraged to participate in several mission-oriented projects during the school year.  These include Old Mother Hubbard Pantry Food Collection and Christmas Mitten Tree as well as other opportunities as they occur.

Childcare
Childcare is provided each Sunday for the young 3's and younger children. Paid staff supervises a volunteer crew to provide 10 child care rooms each Sunday morning. New volunteers are recruited each July to serve once a month for 12 months beginning each September. The rooms are bright with all supplies provided.

At 9:30 and 11:00AM elementary age children (those who have completed Kindergarten—grade 4 by June 2008) will attend the beginning of worship with their families. Then they will gather in rooms E106/108 for movies after attending a "Children's Moment" during worship. Questions may be directed to the Education Office, 846-3404 x327.

Summer Sunday School Teachers Needed
We are giving the wonderful Sunday School teachers who teach during the school year a break this summer, so we will be needing some loving folks to fill in. If you are interested in teaching 3, 4 or 5 year olds or helping in the elementary movie room, this is a great opportunity for people who would like to teach Sunday School but are unable to during the school year. Whether you can volunteer all summer or just a Sunday or two, you would be providing a valuable service. Curriculum and resources are provided. Call Allison Strawmyer at 846-2745 x307 or strawmyer@stlukesumc.com.
