"United Methodist Women's mission is
to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through
Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship and
to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global
ministries of the church."
The United Methodist Women provide an outlet
for adult women to channel their involvement in St. Luke's ministries.
Through seven circles, a community of more than 400 women live
UMW's mission. Organized by age and interest, UMW circles meet
regularly and undertake individual projects. Members also pull
together for annual fundraising projects, which include two rummage
sales (pictured top), and a holiday bazaar (pictured middle).
Each year the United Methodist Women of St.
Luke's raise and distribute over $20,000 to many organizations
within our church and community, as well as to world missions.
UMW also participates in sponsoring the food pantries at Brightwood
and Fletcher Place Community Centers (pictured bottom), provides
summer lunches for children at these centers, and raises funds
and delivers goods and food for Fletcher Place's annual Christmas
shopping program.
